We are honored and delighted to be part of a major clinical study that could make a meaningful difference in the lives of expecting mothers around the world. A Clinical Study with the purpose of looking at Probiotics and Preeclampsia.

In collaboration with Lund University, one of Europe’s leading research institutions, we are participating in a new clinical study aimed at exploring whether probiotics can help reduce the risk of preeclampsia, a serious pregnancy complication also known as pregnancy-induced hypertension.

Preeclampsia affects approximately 5–8% of pregnant women and is one of the leading causes of maternal and foetal complications worldwide. It typically occurs after the 20th week of pregnancy and can lead to high blood pressure, organ dysfunction, and in some cases, life-threatening conditions for both mother and baby.

Despite advances in prenatal care, effective preventive treatments for preeclampsia remain limited. That’s what makes this research so critically important.

The gut microbiota and pregnancy

Recent scientific findings have shed light on a strong connection between gut health and pregnancy outcomes. Several studies suggest that women who develop preeclampsia often show signs of dysbiosis, an imbalance in the gut microbiota. This imbalance can contribute to chronic inflammation, immune dysfunction, and disruptions in the metabolic systems— all factors believed to play a role in the development of preeclampsia.

Our ongoing study focuses on the role that GutMagnific, our precision probiotic, may play in helping to rebalance the gut flora, balance the immune system, may help reduce the risk of this life-threatening condition.
